Common mistakes
The single most confusing mix in the whole PC world: 3.5" drives are imperial 6-32, 2.5" drives are metric M3. They look nearly identical. Forcing a 6-32 into an M3 hole destroys the drive's threads.
M.2 standoff+screw kits (M2x3 plus 2.5/3mm standoffs) are cheap and worth keeping in the drawer.
